China Blasts Off on Its Long March to Look for Life on Mars

SHANGHAI— China released its 1st mission to Mars on Thursday, aiming to join the limited checklist of nations that have landed a spacecraft on a further planet.

The Tianwen-1 blasted off from the Wenchang Place Start Center on the island of Hainan at twelve:40 p.m. regional time aboard the freshly made Extensive March 5 rocket. It is predicted to make the 34-million-mile journey to Mars in seven months, immediately after which it will try to slip into orbit around the planet and mail a rover to the area.
