Rains pose threat to cotton, red gram crop in Telangana
With hefty rains lashing Telangana over the final two months, farmers expanding cotton and red gram confront threats from parawilt and phytophthora, respectively.
Cotton, which has been sown on over sixty lakh acres in the Point out, is vulnerable to parawilt, a physiological dysfunction, owing to extended waterlogging of the fields.
This is not induced by any fungi or bacterial attack, explains R Jagadeeshwar, Director (Investigate) at the Prof Jayashankar Telangana Point out Agricultural College (PJTSAU).
Pointing out that the current temperature circumstances are conducive for parawilt, he advises farmers to drain the drinking water out of the fields as early as probable as extended waterlogging could deny the plant very important vitamins considering the fact that it damages the root procedure.
Blight attack
He claims there is a risk of phytophthora blight attack on red gram, which is sown on over ten lakh acres. Farmers have long gone for added acreage immediately after the Point out government encouraged them to grow far more of it and not to grow maize this kharif.
The Point out grows red gram on about seven.5 lakh acres in the rainy period.
The phytophtora blight as well is induced by too much drinking water and absence of sunlight.
Farmers need to guarantee there is no waterlogging in the fields to let the plant protect its root procedure. Still left unattended, this challenge could induce extreme harm to the crop.
